Upcoming Shows and New Recordings

The Mike Baggetta Quartet returns to Brooklyn, NY & Northampton, MA next weekend with a couple of pre-recording shows for you all to check out!

We’ll be playing new music to be recorded on Monday June 3rd for our 3rd album release on the Fresh Sound New Talent label… I’m looking forward to making some more music with Jason Rigby, Eivind Opsvik and George Schuller… more details on the SHOWS page down there:

The live audio is up at Q2 from the performance of Joe Phillips’ Numinous Ensemble at this year’s Ecstatic Music Festival. I have a blast playing Joe’s music and really loved being a part of this premiere. Check it out by clicking the “Title” above! Performances this week…

This is a little last minute, but here are a few performances this week that I’m excited to be a part of:

I am thrilled to be part of another performance with composer Joseph C. Phillips Jr.’s Numinous Orchestra this Saturday evening, March 16th. The performance will be at the Kaufman Center’s Merkin Hall in NYC as part of the 2013 Ecstatic Music Festival. We’ll be premiering new works by Joe and vocalist Imani Uzuri, with whom he has been collaborating for this festival appearance. If you are out of the NYC area you can still hear the performance being broadcast on WQXR radio through their website at a future date. Keep track here if you want to know.

March 19th & 20th I will be returning to Northampton and Easthampton, MA. First as a guest performer with the Greene Street Trio at the Northampton Jazz Workshop concert and jam session, and the following night in a duo performance at The Luthiers Co-op with my old friend, and fantastic bassist, Jamie MacDonald. I’m really looking forward to both of these performances!

Welcome!

Hi everybody! Welcome to the new website for Mike Baggetta… This is a wonderful redesign that’s been a long time coming and will make it very easy for me to keep you up to date, as well as for you to share this info and stay connected in a number of ways. I definitely want to thank Karen Y. Chan for her excellent work on the design of this site!

There’s a lot going on, so I’ll just go ahead and list it for you here:

- TIN/BAG starts a tour out in the Southwest this week! We’ll be giving concerts and workshops in Bakersfield, CA - Scottsdale, AZ - Albuquerque, NM - CALARTS and Los Angeles, CA. Please come out if you’re in the area!

- Other projects in the works include new music and a recording from the Mike Baggetta Quartet, a new duo project with saxophonist Jeremy Udden, new trio music with bassist Zack Lober & drummer Tommy Crane, and a new live album from TIN/BAG being recorded next spring…
